CHIEF JUSTICE INAUGURATES THE INTERACTION PROGRAM ON COMMERCIAL AND BANKING LAWS FOR JUDGES OF THE COURTS OF APPEAL

May 20, 2007:  Hon Dilip Kumar Paudel, Patron of the National Judicial Academy, inaugurated the interaction program on Commercial and Banking Law for Justice of the Courts of Appeal in Kathmandu. Addressing the participants Hon. Chief Justice said that with the proliferation of commercial and Banking laws in recent times the judges needed to update their knowledge on new laws and also discuss problems on commercial and banking related matters and identify possible way forward for making justice more effectively. During the inaugural Hon. Attorney General Mr Yagyamurti Banjade, Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank Mr Bijayanath Bhattarai, Law Secretary Dr Kulratna Bhurtel, Registrar of Supreme Court  Dr Ramkrishna Timalshena also adderssed the participants.
The Interaction Program is the outcome of collaboration of the Judiciary and Banking and Commercial Sector. It covered important areas in Banking law, Insolvency law, Secured transaction law, Electronic transaction law, Contract and Company law. In total 40 justices of the Court of Appeal participated in the program organized in two batches from May 20-26 and May 27 to June 1. The program was sponsored by the Nepal Rastra Bank.
The Inauguration was chaired by Executive Director Justice Tope Bahadur Singh and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Justice at the Court of Appeal and Faculty at the NJA welcomed the participants.
